Hand Knitting Patterns
I wanted to design a sweater with vertical stripes, but without the work of intarsia, so I decided to knit the sweater from side to side, with the sleeves picked up and knit down. The slip stitch pattern adds just a little interest to the stripes. This sweater looks wonderful on its own, and even better together with its coordinating cardigan (Pattern 109).
This body of this pullover is worked in one piece from side to side, then sewn together. The sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked flat. Then the bottom edging is picked up from the finished body.
